Reigning Aryna Sabalenka Wins Consecutive WTA Player of the Year Accolades.
The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second straight year.
The 27-year-old secured four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – which included retaining the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.
A Season of Consistency
Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka reached a tour-best nine finals, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the entire year as the world number one, concluding 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.
In July, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.
Historic Statistics
Sabalenka concluded the competitive year with a 63-12 match record, and earned a historic £11m in earnings.
She received almost 80% of the votes cast by international tennis media.
On 28 December, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "elevate women's tennis to a higher level".
Additional WTA Award Recipients
- Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, received the award after taking extended hiatus following the birth of her first child and returning to the sport at the start of this year.
- Newcomer of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko received the award after starting the season ranked beyond the world's top 300 and rising to world number 18.
- Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after capturing their second career Grand Slam title together.
- Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after making five finals.
Recently, Carlos Alcaraz took home three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third consecutive time.
