The Latest Relaxed Playlist Sparks Intense Discussions Over AI Players, Experience Points, and Wait Times
Recently, the game developers launched a fresh playlist titled Relaxed Breakthrough. In essence, this option mirrors the regular Breakthrough format but features a few key changes:
- Every squad has just 8 real players, with the remaining made up of AI-controlled opponents.
- Activities performed by real players award full XP, while AI activities offer reduced XP.
- Only two locations are available: Cairo Siege and Empire State.
- Elements like Player tags, accolades, and stat tracking are disabled.
So essentially, the playlist lives up to its title: it's a laid-back version of Breakthrough. On the surface, you might think it's a good idea, as it provides more options for gamers looking for different methods to enjoy the game. However, gaming history has shown one thing, it's that not everyone will be happy. Which is to say, many BF6 players are mad.
Player Reactions: From Fury to Praise
"Gamers prefer real players. Avoid making the mistakes of your competitors," reads one reply to the mode reveal. "Truly disappointing idea," comments another. At the same time, in community forums, a player notes, "It's unclear where we are going with this title," while another details everything they consider to be problematic in Battlefield 6: "Fix bugs, address drone issues, fix IVF rockets, fix [the] bloom after sprinting bug, fix awful hit registration. We don't need this AI-heavy playlist."
On the other hand, amid the criticism, there are players sharing how much they're enjoying the new mode. "It's enjoyable to warm up, real players prevent it from being a total farmfest but it's quite laid-back," reads one Reddit comment. "The community fails to see that there are players who have lives and don't play this game all the time. Let them find a middle ground," adds another. A response on Twitter explains that as they're "a battledad with limited time, this is great for me," and another applauds the mode for "avoiding intense competition."
Valid Concerns and Community Feedback
Despite the support, players have valid points to criticize Casual Breakthrough. A few folks have pointed out that it could increase wait times more extended for different playlists because of the large amount of options in the game already. Similarly, certain regions already encounter mostly bots in the existing playlists. Additionally, it appears a little backwards that the mode does not begin without a minimum number of real players, even though it focuses mostly on combat against bots.
Lastly, one of the biggest complaints is that a previous feature was meant to provide complete rewards, even against bots, but that got canned when they tried to eliminate bot farms from the system. So Casual Breakthrough feels like the community meeting them halfway, as per a Reddit comment. Another labels this addition as the devs "dropping the ball significantly, I had great enjoyment in the first couple of days, why did they feel the need to adjust it?"
Looking Ahead: Adjustments Occur?
If the development team has demonstrated something so far with the latest installment, it's that they're listening and acting on feedback. Tasks that were overly hard got fixed rapidly, as did the required Redsec challenges. Chances are that, should analytics indicates this new playlist is underperforming to their standards, they won't be shy to make further modifications.
