Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople announced on Wednesday night. The athlete was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the passing of his two dear friends.”
His release from the hospital comes as the global fight fans had expressed sympathy for the star in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
